Increase Your Chances for Getting Job Offers

The number one mistake made by job seekers is not applying for enough positions. They focus in on one company that they want to work for and they apply there. Then they wait and wait and wonder why they haven’t got a job. Looking for a job is much like marketing yourself. If you were opening a new store, you wouldn’t just send one flyer to one person. This is the same concept that you should use when you are looking for a job. Apply at as many positions you can so that you have more opportunities available for someone to choose you to interview and you to choose the right job.

The more interviews you are able to get, the better. You are trying to impress potential employers, but do not feel obligated to take a job somewhere if you don’t feel it is a right fit. Many people will apply for a job, interview for it and then realize the position wasn’t what they thought it would be. Employers also realize that people apply to various positions so that they may explore their options. If you are offered an interview at one time, but you already have an interview scheduled for that time, tell the employer that you have another meeting at that time and you are interested in interviewing at a different time. Most employers will understand this and they will be willing to change the interview time.

Interviewing for multiple jobs will also help you build your interviewing skills. If you have a poor interview at one business because of questions you were not prepared to answer, you will be able to prepare for the next interview and you will know what to expect. The more job interviews you go to, the more confident you will find yourself at the next interview.

Getting more job offers is all about marketing yourself effectively. Apply for positions that you are interested in, even if you feel you may not be the best qualified. The business may find that you are worth training and developing. Many companies will work to develop people to ensure that they are going to perform the way they want them to. If you are a willing individual and are teachable, you may find yourself landing a position that you thought you were not experienced enough for.
